HOPF MANAGEMENT CONSOLE (HMC) / AIX =================================== SYSTEMVORAUSSETZUNGEN --------------------- Mindestversion: AIX 5.2 Diese Version der HMC erfordert eine vorinstallierte Java-Runtime (mindestens Java 5, 32 oder 64 Bit) bzw. bei Verwendung von Geraeten ueber die serieller Schnittstelle eine vorinstallierte Java Communication API. Aufgrund von Markenrecht- und Lizenzbedingungen muss die Java-Unterstuetzung explizit vom Kunden installiert werden. Falls auf dem System noch nicht vorhanden, koennen die erforderlichen Pakete kostenlos von IBM bezogen werden. Das Base SDK ist auf jeden Fall erforderlich, die Comm API bei Verwendung der HMC mit Geraeten mit serieller Schnittstelle. Die installps / smit install Pakete werden empfohlen, da die erforderlichen Betriebssystem-Patches von smit erkannt und aufgelistet werden. INSTALLATION ------------ Die Datei HMC_vXX.XX_bxxxx_AIX.tar.gz in ein temporaeres Verzeichnis kopieren und im gewuenschten Zielverzeichnis entpacken. Im Zielverzeichnis (hmc-XX.XX) befindet sich das Startscript hmc.sh. Falls sich die Java-Runtime im Verzeichnis /usr/java5_64 (Default fuer Java 5 / 64-Bit) befindet, kann die HMC sofort gestartet werden. Befindet sich die Java-Installation in einem anderen Verzeichnis, muss das Startscript angepasst werden oder ein Link auf das dementsprechende Verzeichnis erstellt werden. MOEGLICHE PROBLEME ------------------ Falls in der HMC das Verbinden mit einem Geraet fehlschlaegt, muessen evtl. die JCE-Policies der Java-Runtime ersetzt werden. If hopf-devices are connected via a serial port, the Java Communication API has to be installed as well. Due to trademark and license terms and conditions, Java support has to be installed explicitely by the customer. If not already installed, the needed software can be obtained from IBM without any charge. The BaseSDK is required in any case, the CommAPI has to be installed if serial port connections are necessary. The installps / smit install packages are recommended because OS patch checking is done automatically by smit. INSTALLATION ------------ The file HMC_vXX.XX_bxxxx_AIX.tar.gz has to be copied into a temporary directory and extracted to the designated destination. The start script hmc.sh is located in the destination folder (hmc-XX.XX). If the Java runtime is located in the folder /usr/java5_64 (default for Java 5 / 64-Bit) , the HMC can be started immediately using the start script. If another Java version is installed or the Java runtime is located in another directory the start script has to be adapted to the appropriate location or a symbolic link has to be created accordingly. TROUBLESHOOTING --------------- If a HMC-connection with a device is failing, probably the JCE policies have to be replaced.
